Gaston County Basic Law Enforcement Training Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship fund shall be to provide financial assistance for a promising Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) student residing in Gaston County who is enrolled in the BLET program, but does not have the financial resources to participate. The funds will be used to cover the cost of educational expenses including, but not limited to tuition, fees, books, uniforms or other program-specific required supplies. Scholarships distributed from this Fund may only be awarded to Gaston County residents enrolled in the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program. Applicants must satisfy all BLET admissions requirements including any required background checks.

The timeframe and process for applications is determined by the Gaston College Foundation office in consultation with the BLET program director. Scholarships awarded from the Fund may be paid directly to recipients on a reimbursement basis for costs incurred for required pre-admission or program expenses if receipts are provided. Scholarship funds may also be applied directly to a student’s account to cover the cost of educational expenses. Students may be awarded this scholarship one time only. If no BLET students qualify for the scholarship in any given semester, the funds will not be awarded and will be held for future disbursement by the GCF.

Applications submitted through AcademicWorks will not be considered for this scholarship. For application information, contact the Gaston College Foundation office at 704-922-6511 or the Director of the Gaston College Criminal Justice Academy at 704-922-6595.
