Betty Davis Jones Medical Assisting Scholarship
The purpose of this annual scholarship award shall be to provide financial assistance for a promising student seeking an AAS degree in medical assisting who has the academic ability and personal drive to attend college, but not the financial resources. a. Scholarships may be awarded to students pursuing an associate’s of applied science degree in medical assisting. Applicants must satisfy all Medical Assisting Technology program admission requirements including any placement tests for their program of study. Scholarships distributed from this Fund may be awarded to current Gaston College students who have been admitted into the Medical Assisting program and who have passed all required placement tests. They must also have a cumulative Gaston College GPA of 3.00 or better. Financial need is not a requirement for this scholarship, but is considered. Students must be enrolled full-time (12 hours or more) in order to receive a full award amount. The timeframe and process for scholarship applications is determined by the Office of the Vice President of Student Services and Enrollment Management of Gaston College. Scholarships awarded from the Fund may not be paid directly to a recipient but may be credited to a student’s account to reimburse Gaston College for educational expenses including, but not limited to, tuition, fees or books.
