The Steve Brown Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund

Longtime business associates of Mr. Steve Brown, including his most recent employer ITEMA America, Glen Raven Custom Fabrics and the Southern Textile Association, have established an endowed scholarship in his memory. This scholarship is to honor and remember a 1979 Applied Textile Technology Center (formerly known as the NC Vocational Textile School) graduate, Mr. John Steven Brown, while providing financial assistance for a promising student seeking an Associate Degree in Industrial Systems Technology. Preference will be given to full-time or part-time students interested in pursuing employment in the textile field and who have been enrolled in Gaston College for a minimum of 24 credit hours if a full-time student, or 12 hours if a part-time student. The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.

Addendum – At the request of Mrs. Stephanie Brown Jackson, daughter of Steve Brown, the family would like to be given the opportunity
to select the scholarship recipient each year. As is practice for Gaston College, a group of 3-5 finalists will be chosen through the College’s established scholarship selection process, and will then be presented to Mr. Brown’s family members for final scholarship recipient selection.
