Mr. Nazrul & Mrs. Tammy Chowdhury

Austin Chowdhury’s light shone brightly but was extinguished far too soon due to the battle faced by many in our community today, opioid addiction. Austin’s addiction can be traced to oral surgery when he was a teenager while living in a loving and supportive home and attending high school in Gaston County. Even during addiction, he was fully functioning and successfully continued his education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning an undergraduate degree in Public Policy and Urban Planning. Known as someone with a huge heart that would do anything for his friends, he hid his personal struggle with addiction from those who loved him most. To continue Austin’s intended legacy of leaving this world a better place, his parents Tammy and Nazrul seek to educate their community about the illness of addiction so other families may avoid the pain and sorrow their son’s untimely death has caused them. Additional information about Austin and the Chowdhury’s drive to educate others about the perils of opioid use can be found at www.rememberingaustin.org.
