Mrs. Louise K. Ratchford and Family

Mrs. Louise K. Ratchford and their children, Fred A. Ratchford, Jr., Sylvia P. Ratchford, and Dr. and Mrs. H.C. Thomason, Jr., established this scholarship in memory of her husband Fred A. Ratchford, Sr.. Mr. Ratchford, Sr. was a community leader who laid the groundwork for the founding of Gaston College in the early 1960’s, was a teacher, baseball coach, and executive director of the Gaston County Chamber of Commerce. He was born in Gaston county where he lived nearly all of his life.
