Mrs. Maureen Tull

Mrs. Maureen Tull, a committed civic leader and supporter of Gaston College, established this endowed fund to honor her late husband, Bob Tull.

Bob Tull lived a life dedicated to serving and building up the communities in which he lived and worked. He joined the board of the Gaston College Foundation in 2001 and served two terms as chairman. Bob’s commitment to Gaston College impacted the entire institution on all three campuses. During his tenure with the Board Bob was integrally involved in the construction of the Classroom Building on the Kimbrell Campus in Belmont in 2003, the expansion of the Lincoln Campus and the construction of the Jerry Cochrane Building in 2008, the construction of the David Belk Cannon Building in 2009 and the Robinson Classroom Building in 2010 on the Dallas Campus. The Center for Advanced Manufacturing was Bob’s last project that he guided from a concept to completion.

Bob was not just concerned with building structures he also helped to build up people. His generous scholarship gifts to the Gaston College Foundation have helped to educate many students who otherwise would not have had the opportunity for a bright future.

As a navy veteran from humble beginnings who was able to gain an education through the GI bill, Bob strongly advocated for the role that education serves as a catalyst for a brighter future in both the lives of students and the communities within which they live and work. As a mechanical engineer by training, and a retired plant manager within one of our region’s largest manufacturing employers, Bob was keenly interested in the programs of study that are located in the Center for Advanced Manufacturing at Gaston College. He believed in Gaston College’s mission and made the institution a much stronger and more vibrant place because of his commitment.
