Ms. Elisabeth Love More

Ms. Elisabeth Love More bequeathed $200,000 to the Gaston College College Foundation to establish The William Thomas Love Endowed Scholarship to memorialize her father, William Thomas Love (1859-1936). Mr. Love was a dedicated Presbyterian Elder and Mayor of Mount Holly and of Gastonia. He served as Sheriff of Gaston County from 1896-1900 and was a Representative and Senator in the NC General Assembly from 1902-1908. Mr. Love was an early textile pioneer of Gaston County, most notably with Ranlo Manufacturing and Spencer Mountain Mills. He was the grandson of Andrew Love, surveyor of the Gaston County line, and was one of the first Justices of the Peace in Gaston County.
