Harry & Ruby Bryant Scholarship
Mr. Charles King Bryant, Sr.’s Born in Iredell County in 1894, he attended Iredell County schools, graduated in 1913 and then attended New York Electrical School from 1914-1916. He was a member of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, a National Industrial Service Association. He also served as a Representative within the General Assembly during the 1951 and 1954 sessions. His son Harry M. Bryant and his wife, Ruby B. Bryant, made commitments in Mr. Charles King Bryant Sr.’s memory to fund a scholarship at Gaston College for students pursuing a degree most aligned with the electrical industry. Scholarships distributed from this Fund may be awarded to students residing in Gaston, Lincoln, Cleveland or Catawba County North Carolina or York or Cherokee County South Carolina pursuing a diploma, certificate or associate degree program in Office Administration or Business Administration, or who is pursuing a diploma or associate degree program in Electrical Systems Technology, Mechatronics Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology. Recipient(s) must have been enrolled in Gaston College for a minimum of 24 credit hours if a full-time student, or 12 hours if a part-time student, and have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Students are eligible to receive this scholarship for up to 2 years (6 full semesters including Fall, Spring and Summer) provided that a minimum GPA of 2.5 is maintained.
