Sheriff Alan Cloninger Annual Scholarship

This scholarship is in honor of Sheriff Alan Cloninger who was born and raised in Dallas NC. Alan attended UNCC and is also a graduate of Campbell University, Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law. After finishing law school he worked at Frank Patton Cook Law firm as an Associate Attorney. Moving to Assistant District Attorney, Alan served in that role for 2 years. After practicing law at his own firm for 9 years, he became a Jail Administrator. His latest endeavor has been serving as Sheriff for Gaston County for the past 17 years. The purpose shall be to provide assistance to a student seeking Basic Law Enforcement Training. If there are no BLET applications, may award to Criminal Justice Technology or Criminal Justice Technology Forensic Science students. The award is based on a combination of academic achievement. Recipients may not renew for a second year. Graduates must maintain a 2.5 GPA and must be a recent graduate of Gaston or Lincoln County Schools.
