The Raul Thomas Honorary Scholarship

Founded in 1875 Uster, Switzerland, Uster Technologies has developed from a mechanic’s workshop to the global market leader in textile quality management. Uster’s portfolio comprises quality management, laboratory testing, and in-line process control instruments for fibers, staple fiber, filament yarns, fabrics, and nonwovens.

Uster Technologies AG, a member of the Toyota Industries Group since 2012, is based in Switzerland but operates worldwide. Serving customers in 75 countries, they have a network of sales and service subsidiaries in major markets as partners around the globe. Their four Technology Centers for research and development are located in Switzerland, USA, China, and Israel.

This Scholarship is funded by their business entity in the USA, Uster Technologies, Inc, which has locations ins Knoxville, TN and Greenville, SC.

Mr. Raul Thomas, who joined Uster Technologies in 1987, has led an impressive career rich with numerous contributions to the textiles field. Over his 37 years, Raul has taught many of our market’s top minds about what it takes to make the best quality yarn in the world. His extensive product knowledge coupled with his warm engaging demeanor was the perfect combination for his work as a trainer, mentor, coach, and friend to many in the industry.

Scholarship:
Financial need considered but not required
Recipients must be enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science in Textile Technology General or Technician Track. Students in the Fashion Track are not eligible
Must be a 2nd-year student who intends to transfer to NC State University’s Wilson College of Textiles.
