The Welder-Henline Scholarship Fund

The Fund has been established by Rosalind Nolen Welder for her years of service in education and in honor of her partner, Carl Shelton Henline. During her 40 years in education, Rosalind saw the benefits to students as they completed their program of study and were successful in their chosen careers. As a Lincoln County resident and a previous Gaston College employee, she wants to provide an opportunity to Lincoln County students to attend Gaston College.
Working full-time as a Duke Energy employee, Carl started back to college and experienced the benefit of an education from Gaston College. Not only did it enhance his career at Duke Energy, it later helped him to establish a surveying and precision alignment business in Lincoln County. During his career, his company surveyed property in the area, as well as, traveled in the US and throughout the world as a consultant in nuclear and power plants.
Scholarships distributed from this Fund may only be awarded to a Lincoln County resident in any program of study. Recipients must show academic potential, but not necessarily a strong history of academic achievement.
