The PFLAG Gaston Scholarship

Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays promote the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons and their families and friends through SUPPORT to cope with an adverse society, EDUCATION to enlighten an ill-informed public, and through ADVOCACY to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. Founded in 2009, PFLAG Gaston, an accredited chapter of the national PFLAG organization, has worked to provide support services to all who are LGBT, support the LGBT community, or are a family member, friend, or associate of and LGBT individual seeking education, support or understanding. Scholarships may be awarded to High school seniors with a 2.5 min. GPA from Gaston County Schools or current student who have achieved 2.75 GPA with 12 hours of study. Any degree or diploma may be perused. Recipient must also be an active member of the Gaston College True Colors Club or similar organization.
